Cien

Finished the first run through the first hectare this morning. Awesome to be out at subplot 100 and measure the last tree, got me all excited. Better yet, we’re two field days ahead and should be done with re-checking Wednesday or Thursday. Only had about 35 trees to do this morning, so I was back to the station shortly after noon.

Didn’t have too much to do, rather the motivation to do too much so Debra and I broke out the Squidgie (thanks Philmont) and tossed it around for a while. Only had to pull it off a roof twice and a tree once. And with any lazy afternoon, a coffee break was in order. As usual, I ended up making the majority of the coffees (kind of like pretending that I work in some fancy coffee shop that only uses cups 5-year-olds would have).

Mid-coffee break, Debra, Amanda & I met a new friend who arrived today. Lauren’s a senior at UNH (the New Hampshire one) and from Connecticut. So you know what that means…two baseball fans now turned into three baseball fans. 5:00pm called for bike riding lessons, so we picked Tinny up at the cabinas.

Soon enough we had about 10 researchers and a security assisting with the bike riding. Around 5:45pm I believe it was the most exciting thing to see on the station. A little before dinner I snuck away to the lounge to watch the Rocket pitch a few with Karen. Finished the game after dinner, tough to get a loss with 2 ER and 8 K through six, but the bats just weren’t doing it.

Played in the office after the devastating loss, then hopped over to Pablo’s going away party back at the lounge. Uber-tiredness and super-yawnzies were already with me at 10:00pm and I hit the hay a little after midnight. Tomorrow’s got a lot on tap, look forward to a solid post. ¡Hasta!
