Done! With one hectare anyway, I’ve been dying to finish up all week and it finally happened today, only one day ahead of time. Jumping right into the next plot tomorrow morning. Experienced our first bicycle crisis that involved me renting a bike and a blown tube 2k out. Somehow we’ll make do.
Finished rechecking 45 trees today, found 6 or 7 that needed to be done for the first time including a freshly dead one (yay!, mortality). Hopped out of the plot for the last time in a while around 1:10pm and got back to the lab by 1:29pm, the real commute starts tomorrow. Hurried up the cleansing process to make the 2:00pm coffee break.
Sat through a ferocious rain storm at the comedor and slurped down 4 coffees. Chops made the call to forego Lindero Sur for tonight due to sketch weather, probably a good call. Instead I convinced myself it’d be a good idea just to tag along to the Finca el Bejuco to bat. Began with a scrumptious omelet sandwich and a solid 90 minutes of sitting in the rain.
Got the nets opened and caught a whopping two bats before 10:00pm when we packed things up. To make up for the dull night of batting I broke a dead tree and fell smack on the ground and got bitten up by some angry ants. Fell about 3-4 more times on the way back to the car. Saw a paca on last leg of our drive back. That’s gonna be a night y’all.
