Opened my eyes all grumpy this morning at the rain. Two full days without going in the field really hurts, and it hurts more when it’s raining the morning you’re ready to go. Laid in bed for about an hour and the rain seemed to stop. From breakfast on, we operated on a rain delay schedule, but luckily lined up an easy day of work today; 19 short little trees scattered around the plot that needed to get done.
Back to the lab around 11:30am and got the grillz shined and hair bounced. After lunch, hit the ground running with some office work. Emailed Dr. Chazdon, entered data, did lots of thinking and writing of the thoughts. Got everything ready for the next two day when we’ll go to LEP and do another set of blind measurements on trees that fall outside of acceptable limits (currently a loss of 8% or more or a gain of 50% or more over 6 years).
Dropped some laundry, toiled with the office playlist, and listened to lots of Country (to Wanchope’s enjoyment). Pried away from my work at 2:30 to participate in afternoon coffee break (always an excellent time). My to go coffee still can’t make it back to the lab, must learn self control.
Expected to do some bike riding lessons today, didn’t happen, Team Chops thinks that Tinny should practice on her own, so I might retire from my tough love methods. My coffee cup has a puma on it, not a blue cat with a pink bowtie, just to clarify. Folded some laundry, savored my clean packtowl.
Worked right up until the Sox game and got in 4 innings before dinner. Coco Crisp (laughing out loud). Lead’s down to eight games and the league’s greatest home run hitter is heading to the mountains tomorrow (i.e. it’s ON). Made a fun sign in MS Word and got my data book ready to go with 72 trees for tomorrow, we’re going to rock it out.
Plant ID class-thing tomorrow at 2:00pm if I’m back in time, that would be really helpful out there. Wednesday is one more day of measurements in LEP. Wednesday night involves catching bats in cat country (maybe we should catch cats just for fun). Somebody once said what happens in Costa Rica stays in Costa Rica, actually it just gets blogged about and plastered all over the internet. Hasta mañana.
